Not Playing the Game: how to price work no one wakes up wanting, and still have clients come to you
Freelance Unlocked 2026 - Freitag, 12. Juni 2026, 13:00 Uhr
No one wakes up in the morning wanting what I do.
There’s no obvious search term for it. No neat budget line. No clear procurement category. And yet, over time, I’ve built an independent business where clients come to me, pricing works for me, and I rarely compete on day rates or pitch in the traditional sense.
This session is for freelancers whose work is hard to explain, hard to scope, and hard to price — the kind of work that only becomes obviously valuable after it’s needed.
I’ll share what I’ve learned about opting out of the usual freelance game: chasing leads, over-specifying deliverables, and pretending certainty in order to survive procurement processes.
We’ll look at how to price judgment-based work, how to engage with procurement without flattening the value of what you do, and how to design your positioning so the right clients knock on your door instead of you knocking on theirs.
This isn’t about hacks, funnels, or hustle. It’s about building a sustainable freelance business when the market doesn’t quite know what to do with you.
